Why I Stopped Using Hubpages
When I first started using hubpages, I assumed that their content guidelines were enough to keep the site "clean". Imagine my shock when my mother calls me to tell me that there is a link to adult photos on my website! I quickly checked and discovered a "fan" of mine was posting this crap and my mother had simply clicked to see who my "fan" was! I immediately flagged his hubs and notified the hubpages staff. They sent me a letter saying sorry, they had removed his adult hubs and had warned him. I thought the matter ended. I checked the man's hubs a week or two later and he had reposted everything. I flagged them again and sent another email to the staff....and nothing happened. I have flagged his hubs for months and they are still up.
A friend of mine just emailed me and this is why I am pulling all my hubs off hubpages. She was checking her hub on how to teach the alphabet to preschoolers, late at night, and all of the google ads were adult! Including ads about children! Also Indian "blue movies" which apparently are p0rn.
As a mother of four small children and a Christian, I simply cannot support Hubpages anymore. If they are unwilling to remove adult content and allow adult google ads at night, including child ads, I have no recourse but to pull my stuff. If I could report them I would, but I have seen first hand how futile that is. I apologize for any inconvenience for you, and I urge you not to use Hubpages until they have cleaned up their act. Thank you,
Katherine Born
